A LITTLE GUIDANCE FOR YOUR WEDDING DAY

FAQ

Thoughtful planning leaves more room to enjoy your day. Here are a few things to consider as you choose your setting, honour your traditions and make space for the moments that matter.

YOUR SETTING

What should we consider when choosing a venue?

Choose somewhere that feels like you, then look at how the day will move through it. Soft window light, a quiet spot for portraits and space for your guests to gather can all help create a relaxed experience.

Visit around the time of your planned ceremony if possible. Ask about photography access, any restrictions and an indoor or covered option for rain. A beautiful setting matters, but so does having time to enjoy it without rushing between locations.

A little preparation: share your venue, ceremony time and travel plans with me early so we can talk through light, timing and a comfortable backup plan.

HONOURING TRADITION

How can we prepare for photographs during the tea ceremony?

The tea ceremony is a time for respect, gratitude and connection between generations. Every family has its own customs, so we will discuss the order, important relatives and any traditions you would like me to pay particular attention to.

A clear area with gentle light helps me photograph both the tea being offered and the reactions around you. Keep the tea set, seats and any cushions nearby, and ask a family member or coordinator to help with names and the serving order.

Leave a little breathing room in the schedule. The smiles, embraces and quiet exchanges after the tea can be just as meaningful as the ritual itself.

FEELING PRESENT

What if we feel awkward in front of the camera?

You do not need to know how to pose, and you never need to perform an emotion. I will offer gentle direction when it helps, then give you room to walk, talk and be together.

Some people laugh easily; others show their feelings in quieter ways. Both belong in your story. A hand held, a familiar glance or a pause before your vows can say as much as a big celebration.

Tell me what helps you feel comfortable. A little time away from the crowd, fewer interruptions and a familiar person nearby can make a difference.

I tear up easily and worry about smudging my makeup — how can I plan ahead and manage touch-ups?

Makeup can be touched up, but a heartfelt moment cannot be recreated. Laugh freely, let the tears come if they do, and give yourself room to express what you truly feel. Those genuine moments become the most beautiful memories — unmistakably yours.

Many couples worry that tears will affect their makeup, but you do not need to hold back your tears for the sake of keeping it perfect. If you feel like laughing, laugh; if tears come, it is okay to let them. There is no need to hide your feelings, and no pressure to cry either.

Talk with your makeup artist beforehand about water-resistant makeup and touch-ups. If your budget and schedule allow, consider booking them to stay on standby during the ceremony and key photography moments, so they can help refresh your makeup after tears, embraces or a change of location. Agree on their standby hours and any additional fees in advance, so you can worry less about tears affecting your makeup and feel freer to express what the moment means to you.

Keep soft tissues nearby to gently blot rather than rub, and allow a little time to freshen up after the ceremony.

OTHERS

What are the benefits of having two wedding photographers?

Some of the most touching moments on your wedding day happen beyond your view. With two photographers, the same moment can be captured from different perspectives: one can focus on the two of you, while the other captures a parent’s tears, a friend’s smile, or the emotions unfolding among your guests.

These different perspectives help tell a richer, more complete story of your day. When you look back at your photographs, you can relive the moments you experienced and discover the ones you missed, seeing how the people around you shared in your joy.
